Most of our communication happens through the Facebook group so if you have any questions its best to ask on there.

2020 Series

Shaw Racing Series Image.jpg
to FPVR Series

This year we are lucky enough to have the support of Shaw Building Group as our naming rights sponsor for 2020. We race outdoors at the Weston Creek Archery Club on the 3rd Saturday of most months (weather permitting).

There are very few formal rules, but most people race a 5” quadcopter. Apart from a few simple safety rules, the only regulation is that your video transmitter cannot exceed 25mW in accordance with ACMA legislation.

Visitors are always welcome, but please stay behind the safety netting whenever anybody is flying.

Please check our Facebook page for more information.

We livestream our races on Youtube, you can find our races (as well as some others) on the FPVBits Youtube page.

Micro Series

Micro racing currently suspended while we look for a venue (July 2020)

The CMRC Micro series events are held once a month at 'The Abbey' in Gold Creek ACT. Quad specs are ducted frame, 1s battery, 25mw VTX. Even if you don't own a quad, come have a look and see what its all about, and if you're interested we can point you in the right direction on how to get started! The Abbey has the Kitchen and Bar open all night, so come have a beer, a schnitty and check it out. Race entry fee is $10 for members and non-members.

Becoming a member with CMRC means you receive members rates for race entry, which for most races (excluding micro series) is a $10 members entry fee as opposed to $20 for non members. You can be a guest at your first 3 races to try it out before needing to become a CMRC member (if you dont already have an MAAA membership). 2021 Membership costs are as follows ($10 discount on MAAA insurance for members renewing before 31 July):

Full Year SENIOR (18+) MAAA included $160

Half Year SENIOR (18+) MAAA included $115

Full Year SENIOR (18+) MAAA not incl. $70

Half Year SENIOR (18+) MAAA not incl. $40

Full Year JUNIOR (under 18) MAAA included $95

Half Year JUNIOR (under 18) MAAA included $60

Full Year JUNIOR (under 18) MAAA not incl. $50

Half Year JUNIOR (under 18) MAAA not incl. $30

One day we might have some merchandise available for purchase. All proceeds will go to the club for improving the equipment/gear we use for race days and general costs of running the club.

Register your interest in a build day

Next workshop TBA

About once a year we will run a beginners workshop to help attract newbies to the hobby.

This is a 1 day event consisting of racing drone workshop / wrenching plus a coached flying session conducted by the CMRC club members.

Cost: $50
Register here:
Max attendees: 8

It is a ticketed event specifically for beginners who are looking to get started in the wonderful world of drone racing. The format of the day will be:

- Quick theory session (unless no one wants a bar of that)
- Help you troubleshoot your drone (get it setup, sort out issues if need be) If you don't yet have one, you're still welcome!
- Setup a real simple track and coach you on how a drone race works and get you some experience in prep for your first race day experience

It is currently tailored for someone who has already bought equipment already. If there is sufficient interest we can provide some links to starter packages you can purchase online to bring on the day to have us help you set them up.... but ideally you would have a radio, goggles and a drone already and the brains trust will help you set it up / tune it and get you flying all in one session, it's flexible.
